Hi All,
With the easing of lockdown restrictions, we are starting to get some questions regarding reopening of the club etc. Unfortunately our position largely remains as was in that we still have no access to the facilities at Pens Meadow School. Having spoken to the school last week, I understand a review of the current situation is planned in September when the school reopens after the school holidays. We therefore do no have any estimation on when we may be able to reopen the club for recreational and competition table tennis as things stand.
The pandemic has hit table tennis hard with restrictions allowing the sport to return to some level of normality coming into place from today. All clubs across the country have been hit by similar challenges with no local clubs yet returned to 100% normality to my knowledge. I know other local clubs are making advances to resume the sport and we will share information of any sessions or coaching days we feel may be of interest to our members.
Local League Update...
Both Kidderminster and Dudley Table Tennis leagues have communicated an intention to restart their leagues for the coming season (Sep/Oct approx). As yet we are yet to hear from Wolverhampton league but we are expecting a similar approach. There is currently no news on the remainder of 19-20 seasons which were approaching their conclusion however, league meetings are being planned to discuss this topic in the coming month or so. Dudley League has also indicated an intention to reduce league entry fees for the coming season as incentive to encourage participations.
The club is currently exploring options to utilise other local facilities for matches and we will provide feedback once available. In preparation for the new season, we need feedback from our members on their appetite to participate in local league competition this coming season potentially from an alternative venue until we can return to normal.
Please can I ask all team captains to reach out to their team members and ask people to submit the following form to register their interest in local league entry for the forthcoming season:
